Kochi: Vypeen bid farewell on Wednesday to 19-year-old Jasliya Johnson, whose
organ donation helped save four lives. Villagers, relatives, friends and public representatives gathered to pay their last respects during her final journey.
Jasliya, a second-year BCom student, died on Tuesday morning while undergoing treatment after suffering severe head injuries in a road accident at Angamaly on Feb 28. Her body was kept for public viewing in the courtyard of her house at Edavanakkad on Wednesday afternoon.

The last rites began at 3pm. When her mother, Lima, gave her daughter a final kiss goodbye, many could not hold their tears. Later, the body was taken in a mourning procession and laid to rest at St Augustine's Church cemetery in Kuzhuppilly at around 4pm.
Students and teachers from Angamaly Morning Star College, where Jasliya was studying and from SDPYY KPM High School in Edavanakkad, where she completed her schooling, also came to pay their respects. Jasliya was the daughter of Johnson of Edavanakkad. With the consent of her parents, her liver, kidneys and corneas were donated, helping four patients in need.
