Vinayan moves HC against inclusion of Unnikrishnan

Kochi: Director Vinayan has moved the HC seeking a directive to the state govt to exclude director B Unnikrishnan from the advisory committee tasked with formulating a cinema policy. Vinayan's plea alleged that Unnikrishnan is a key figure in a power group within the film industry. He claimed that Unnikrishnan, under the pretext of serving as the secretary of Fefka (Film Employees Federation of Kerala) for 16 consecutive years, has been exploiting the industry through undue influence and power gained by him and his associates.Vinayan further argued that Unnikrishnan was penalized by the Competition Commission of India for imposing an industry ban on him for over 12 years and the decision was upheld by the SC. Despite submitting a letter to the CM via email on Aug 28 and to the minister of cultural affairs, requesting Unnikrishnan's removal from the committee, no action was taken.Jayasurya's pleas deferredA HC bench of Justice C S Dias has adjourned the pre-arrest bail petitions of actor Jayasurya in two separate cases of alleged bid to outrage the modesty of women actors.
