Three held with MDMA in separate incidents
Kochi: Three persons were held with MDMA in the district on Tuesday. In the first incident, Praveen K Das, 24, a Thrissur native, was caught with 9.59g MDMA during a raid by the Dansaf team in the Vattekunnam area in Kalamassery. Meanwhile, Ernakulam North police arrested Muhammed Shafi T, 25, of Kayamkulam, Alappuzha, with 3.79g MDMA near the ESI Road during an inspection held close to the Ernakulam North railway station.In the third incident, Ernakulam rural police arrested a man with drugs from Perumbavoor. The arrested person was identified as Abu Bakkar Siddique, 40, of Kodanad. He was apprehended by a special investigation team led by the Perumbavoor ASP.He was caught from the premises of Perumbavoor EVM cinema with 1.1g MDM. He told the police that he procured the drugs from Bangalore. His arrest was made as part of a special drive launched by the rural police to check the flow of narcotics into the district during the Christmas and New Year season.Woman held for pawning fake gold: A woman who pawned fake gold ornaments to swindle money was arrested by Ernakulam Town South police on Tuesday. The arrested individual was identified as Riya Mary Johnson, 23, from Mannar, Alappuzha. She pawned the fake gold ornaments at a financial establishment at Kadavanthra.A case was also registered against her at the Thrikkakara police station for the same offense. The accused was remanded to judicial custody after being presented in a court.
