Thiruvathukkal double murder: Police file chargesheet

Kottayam: Police on Wednesday filed the chargesheet in the Thiruvathukkal double murder case in which a couple was killed by an Assam native.The chargesheet, submitted before the magistrate court within three months of the incident, charged Amit Urang with the murders.Businessman T K Vijayakumar, 65, who owned Indraprastham Auditorium in the town, and his wife Meera Vijayakumar, 62, were found murdered in their palatial house on April 22. The police probe found Urang to have committed the twin murders. Urang was arrested and is currently in the district jail.The chargesheet said that the accused, who was Vijayakumar's staff earlier, murdered the couple as revenge for putting him behind bars in a financial fraud case. Urang used Vijayakumar's phone and swindled Rs 2.79 crore through online transactions last Sept. Later, based on Vijayakumar's complaint, Urang was arrested and remanded. Following the arrest, Urang's relationship with his wife was affected. He was released from jail in the beginning of April, after serving over five months. On the day of the murders, Urang got into the house and first killed Vijayakumar and then Meera.
