Thrissur: District police are facing an embarrassing situation with thefts reported from two temples located close to key police offices.
Irattachira Siva temple, which is one of the temples where the theft attempt had taken place, is located adjacent to Thrissur DIG office, while Mariyamman Kovil, is located within 100ft behind the city police commissioner's office. The hundis at both the temples have been opened. Police sources said money has been lost from Mariyamman Kovil while no amount has been lost from Irattachira Siva temple.

The thefts had taken place on Wednesday night, but police have not been able to nab the accused even on Thursday evening. However, police have recovered ID cards including the voter ID card and Aadhaar cards left near the hundi in front of Mariyamman Kovil. CCTV visuals of the accused have also been recovered.
Police said they suspect the cards belong to the person who had carried out the robbery. "His mobile is switched off, but we will track him soon,'' police officials said.
