Kochi: A woman travelling on Karaikal-Ernakulam Express was found unconscious inside the train at Ernakulam Junction railway station on Thursday. Though railway officials took her to Ernakulam General Hospital, she was declared brought dead.
The train's journey was delayed for around half-an-hour due to the incident. "When the train arrived at the station, fellow passengers found her unconscious," said an officer with
Railway Protection Force (RPF). The woman was identified as Isaivani, 40, of Nagapattinam in Tamil Nadu.
The train, which had to resume its journey as a passenger train from Ernakulam to Kottayam after completing the trip between Karaikal and Ernakulam, headed to Kottayam after a delay of around 30 minutes. Railway officials cleaned the train and fumigated it before it took off to Kottayam.
