KOCHI: Actor rape case accused
Pulsar Suni
on Wednesday finally revealed the name of the 'madam' he has been off and on mentioning in connection with the case.
When asked by reporters at the
Ernakulam
chief judicial magistrate court as to who the madam was, Suni said, "
Kavya, haven't I said the name before." Suni, however, went on to add, "Am I not a thief, why do you want to listen to my confession?"
Investigation team had earlier collected statements of Kavya Madhavan, actress and wife of Dileep, the 11th accused in the actress rape case. Police had earlier conducted investigations at the office of Lakshyah, Kavya's online garment shopping website, in connection with the case.
'Madam' had become a talking point when advocate
Pheney Balakrishnan
first told about her possible involvement in the case. Later, Suni hinted about her multiple
times
while going back and forth on his statements. He had even said 'madam' had financed him but she was unaware of the conspiracy.
The special investigation team meanwhile maintained that they will be submitting the chargesheet only after collecting more evidence.
"The revelation of the first accused was made outside the court. We are yet to decide on whether to further investigate this angle. We have already taken statements of Kavya. The chargesheet will take some more time as we are collecting fool-proof evidence," said rural SP A V George.
Police sources had earlier maintained that madam was a figment of Suni's imagination which he was using to divert the probe. Suni however had on multiple times reiterated about the existence of a madam while claiming that she was not the brain behind the attack.
Pulsar, who is also accused of trying to abduct a senior actress in 2011, was presented at the chief judicial magistrate (CJM) court in Ernakulam on Wednesday for remand extension. The court extended his remand till September 8.
Meanwhile, the judicial first class magistrate court in Angamaly also extended the remand period of Suni and all the co-accused in the actress rape case till September 13. Yet again Suni was produced only at CJM court here and the proceedings at Angamaly court were initiated in his absence.
The hearing on the bail application of Suni moved at the additional district sessions court in connection with the case was completed on Wednesday. The court will pronounce an order in the plea on September 2.
