Kochi: SRV Govt Higher Secondary School in Ernakulam will soon see major upgrades to its sports and cultural infrastructure facilities with the construction of a modern football turf and comprehensive renovation of its historic auditorium.

According to Vinod, absence of adequate sports amenities affected structured practice and competitive preparation. "Aim is to ensure that students in govt schools get access to quality sports facilities," he said. The project is expected to enable students to participate more effectively in competitions at state and national levels.
In addition, school's heritage auditorium will undergo a major renovation at an estimated cost of Rs 99 lakh. The auditorium, which hosts academic, cultural and social events, faced issues including roof leakage, ageing electrical systems, damaged seating and inadequate sound and lighting facilities. Renovation will include structural strengthening, electrical upgrades, replacement of seating, modernization of stage and improvements to sound and lighting systems.
"Renovation works will be carried out while retaining the architectural character and heritage features of the existing structure," said Vinod.
