Remarks on U Pratibha: Cops told to file case

Kottayam: Alappuzha district collector, who is also the district election officer, on Thursday instructed police to file a case in connection with the alleged derogatory remark against MLA U Pratibha, who is the LDF candidate in Kayamkulam constituency. News reports and social media posts related to the incident were reviewed by the media certification and monitoring committee and handed over to the district-level committee on the model code of conduct. A meeting chaired by the district collector evaluated the social media clips. Based on the initial findings of a model code of conduct violation, the police were directed to file a case under various sections of IPC.The case includes charges of insulting the dignity of women, making baseless statements related to elections, issuing false statements that could influence election results, and defamation.
