Police to probe attack on woman

Kochi: Kunnathunadu police have begun an investigation into an allegation that a 31-year-old man attacked and attempted to murder a woman in Kothamangalam.

The case pertains to the incident that occurred on May 23. According to sources, the accused, identified as Nithin, 31, of Kothamangalam, attacked a friend allegedly after she asked him not to proceed with his wedding.

The woman, who sustained serious injuries, sought medical treatment. The alleged attack occurred a few days before his scheduled wedding, sources said.

The woman filed a complaint, and the man was arrested on Monday. Police began a detailed investigation into the allegations after seeking his custody.

Boy drowns: A 15-year-old boy, Anurag Krishna C S of Kumbalanghi, died following a drowning incident on Saturday. He was brought to a private hospital in the city in critical condition, but despite the best efforts of the medical team, he could not be revived. He was declared dead at the hospital.
