Pezhakkapilly School to host district-level Praveshanolsavam on June 1
Kochi: District-level Praveshanolsavam (school reopening ceremony) for the upcoming academic year will be held at Pezhakkapilly Govt Higher Secondary School on June 1. Officials said schools are fully prepared to welcome students for the new academic year after the summer vacation.
Public representatives, including MPs, MLAs and district panchayat president, are expected to attend the event, according to education department officials.
The district has a total of 984 schools, comprising 375 govt schools, 514 aided schools and 95 unaided schools. During the previous academic year, the total student strength stood at 2,42,428, including 46,531 students in govt schools, 1,62,584 in aided schools and 33,313 in unaided schools. A total of 18,342 students were admitted to Class I.
Meanwhile, the campaign ‘Lesson One – Health’ will be launched as part of efforts to promote healthy habits among schoolchildren. The initiative is jointly organised by health department and general education department.
Officials said the campaign aims to spread awareness about healthy lifestyle practices among children and their families, while encouraging students to adopt healthier routines from an early age.
As part of the programme, awareness sessions will be conducted on communicable disease prevention, lifestyle disease control and mental health. Anti-tobacco and anti-drug campaigns will also be included in the initiative.
