Kerala polls: People won’t back cheaters says, CM Pinarayi
Alappuzha: Chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan criticized G Sudhakaran at Haripad on Wednesday and claimed that the rebel leader will say anything against CPM to hide his past. "He is wearing a Congress cap and is trying to portray himself as a new person to satisfy that party for which he must relinquish his past. That's why he is challenging CPM and his decline will continue," he alleged.
In the land of Punnapra-Vayalar struggles, CPM saw a significant shift. Alappuzha always stood firm behind CPM during critical times. That is the strength of the movement. Comrades and residents stand with the party and not with an individual, he added.
Speaking about Sudhakaran's candidature, he said, "Congress leaders were told that 15,000 votes will come from CPM, which they will appreciate. Another aspect to consider is BJP's claim of 5,000 votes, which the candidate mentioned for the first time. They held discussions with Congress and BJP. It is unclear what offer BJP gave," he said.
Sudhakaran came as a Congress candidate. It remains to be seen whether it was his idea or that of the Congress that he must contest as an independent to bag BJP votes. They are attempting to join hands with BJP to defeat CPM in Ambalappuzha. Their delusion that this man can defeat CPM in Ambalappuzha, where LDF has been winning for a long time, will not happen, he said.
Later at a campaign in Ambalappuzha, without naming Sudhakaran, he said that the person who has taken an opportunistic stand will be drowned in the cesspool of history. He said Ambalappuzha has become a symbol of UDF's opportunistic stand but the people of Alappuzha should not be taken lightly. They have LDF in their hearts and this land of Punnapra martyrs will not encourage cheating, he said.
He said that Alappuzha was never part of shifting politics as the land and its residents have stood firm in the right direction while those who fell victim to this shift charted their own path.
"What was the stand taken by this opportunist and Congress? They decided to buy BJP votes. Their way to defeat LDF is the support of UDF and a fixed number of BJP votes. People will think why they should accept this opportunistic political stand, he said.
