Kochi: Thunderstorm accompanied by lightning is very likely to occur at one or two places in the state for the next two days. Heavy rainfall of 7cm was reported from Kanjirappally on Thursday. Peerumedu received 4cm rain, while Vellanikkara, Munakkal, Athirapally and Cheruvanchery received 3cm.
IMD said that rain or thundershower is most likely to occur at one or two places in the state for the next two days. The trough from Gulf of Mannar to south interior Karnataka across Tamil Nadu persists. Another upper air cyclonic circulation lies over interior Tamil Nadu adjoining Kerala. An upper air cyclonic circulation lies over coastal Andhra Pradesh and Yanam and neighbourhood.
Maximum temperatures were below normal in Malappuram district. Minimum temperature fell appreciably in Kannur and in Kozhikode district. On Thursday, Palakkad recorded the highest maximum temperature of 36.9°C and Kannur airport recorded the lowest minimum temperature of 20.6°C.
Cial Kochi saw mercury levels of 36.3°C, which is a 1.4° rise. Other places like Kottayam, Kannur airport, Punalur and Vellanikkara recorded above 35.5°C.
