Nurse killed in road accident

Kochi: A nurse with a private hospital in the city died after she met with an accident while on her way to duty on Monday morning.
The deceased has been identified as Anu Thomas (32) of Kandathil House, Varanam PO, Cherthala. She was a staff nurse with Lakeshore Hospital, Ernakulam.
The accident occurred at Madavana Junction in Panangad around 6.45am on Monday.A speeding truck rammed her scooter at the junction. The signal at the junction was reportedly not functioning at the time of the accident. Though she was rushed to the Lakeshore Hospital, she was declared brought dead on arrival.
Panangad police have registered a case and have launched a probe.
Lakeshore Hospital sources said that the woman had been working with the hospital since 2013. She leaves behind her husband Prince, who works in Saudi Arabia, and son Elen.
Meanwhile, a 45-year-old man died reportedly after a bike and an ambulance collided at Peruvammuzhi in Muvattupuzha on Monday evening.
The deceased has been identified as Saji M P of Valakom.
