Murder accused nabbed from Bengaluru

Kochi: Maradu police on Thursday arrested a murder accused from Bengaluru who had gone absconding from Kochi after getting bail in 2022.
The arrested was identified as Johnson Xavier, a native of Nettoor , who had escaped after receiving bail from the court in 2022 after allegedly murdering his friend Balan in February 2019. The FIR registered by the cops in 2019 had invoked IPC section 302 against Xavier.
“The accused had gone absconding during the trial in the case. It was challenging for the police to capture the accused from Bengaluru,” said a police official from Maradu police station.
The cops also arrested another man, Ijas, along with Xavier from Bangalore. Ijas is accused in a case registered in connection with the assault on a police official and the district administration had invoked Kaapa against him.
