Meet discusses development plans for Pinavurkudi tribal settlement
Kochi: A meeting convened by Antony John, MLA, was held to outline development projects to be implemented in Pinavurkudi tribal settlement in Kuttampuzha panchayat on Saturday. Meeting discussed renovation of community hall, establishment of an indigenous heritage centre, implementation of various drinking water systems, playground renovation and work on an open gym.
A few days ago, state govt sanctioned Rs 1 crore for comprehensive development of the tribal settlement. Fund was sanctioned under Ambedkar Settlement Development Scheme.
Meeting at the community hall was attended by Kuttampuzha grama panchayat president Kanthi Vellakkayan, vice-president Salma Pareeth, block panchayat member KK Gopi, panchayat member Binesh Narayanan, tribal development officer Anil Bhaskar, state scheduled tribes advisory committee member Indirakutty Raju, tribal extension officer P Rajeev, locals and tribal promoters.
Earlier, govt allocated Rs 1 crore under the same scheme for development of Elamblassery and Thera tribal settlements in Kuttampuzha. Moreover, govt is actively considering allocation of Rs 1 crore for development of Mamalakkandam Mednampra tribal settlement.
