Idukki: Kanjikuzhy police in Idukki have arrested an absconding criminal involved in several cases across the state.
The accused has been identified as Riju Ibrahimkutty (45), a native of Ochira Valiyakulangara in Kollam. He was wanted in connection with multiple cases, including visa fraud and
drug trafficking. Police said a case had been registered against him for allegedly cheating a Kanjikuzhy native by offering a job abroad and collecting money. Following the incident, he had been absconding for a long period.
Riju had also been evading court appearances for years, prompting police to launch an extensive search operation. Based on confidential information that he frequently visited his wife's residence near Pindimana in Ernakulam, surveillance in the area was intensified. The accused was finally apprehended during a special search operation conducted in connection with Vishu.
Police said that around 20 cases have been registered against him across 13 districts in Kerala. These include visa fraud cases, cases involving overseas jobs, possession of MDMA, and other cases under the NDPS Act.
According to officials, the accused had been misleading police by using fake names and addresses whenever he was caught earlier.
