Man threatens children with airgun, arrested

Tripunithura: A group of children in Panangad had a frightening experience on Vishu morning when a man allegedly threatened them with an air gun. The children went around the neighbourhood displaying Vishu Kani, hoping to receive Vishu Kaineettam. However, when they knocked on the door of Jelson (34), the house owner was not too pleased about being woken up. According to police, the incident occurred around 1am on Wednesday, when the minors, knocked on Jelson's door. He allegedly opened the door and pointed an air gun at them. Shocked, the children dropped the Vishu Kani and ran away. Police said the accused acted out of anger after the noise woke his child. Panangad police registered a case, seized the air gun and later arrested Jelson. He was released on station bail. He was booked for criminal intimidation and for rash or negligent acts endangering human life.Man found dead: A 23-year-old man died on Thursday while undergoing treatment at a hospital after being found hanging from a ceiling. The deceased was identified as Sanoj K of Kozhikode. He was found hanging at a homestay in Eloor on Wednesday. However, he fell after the knot came undone. His friend rushed him to Kalamassery MCH. A detailed probe is on into the reason for the extreme step. TNN
