Man held for duping woman of 30 lakh
Kochi: A 28-year-old man was arrested for allegedly posing as an IAS trainee and duping a woman of Rs 30 lakh by falsely promising to marry her. He was arrested by Mulanthuruthy police on Sunday.The arrested person has been identified as Muhammed Ajmal Hussain of Punnapra, Alappuzha. According to police, the accused met the complainant during a train journey. He then got the woman into paying him around Rs 30 lakh over multiple instalments, claiming that it was for completing his studies.The money was being transferred into the account of the accused from the account of the woman’s father, police said. However, he cut-off the relationship with the woman when she stopped paying him money. Police said that the accused was communicating with the woman by hiding the fact that he was already married. He later turned his phone off and was hiding in north Indian states. The accused was finally picked up from Hyderabad. tnn
