Man arrested for stealing jewellery

Kochi: A 57-year-old man was arrested for stealing gold ornaments from a house along SRM Road on Sunday. The arrested has been identified as Johny Peter of Kaloor. The accused had gone to the house for cleaning work and gold ornaments worth Rs 2,50,000 and Rs 10,000 were stolen when the house owners went out of the house.One held for vehicle theft: A 47-year-old man was arrested for stealing a scooter from Kathrikadavu on Sunday. The arrested has been identified as Muralikrishnan of Kaloor. Five held for assault: Five youths were arrested on Sunday for assaulting a truck driver at Kothamangalam. The accused, Baharul Islam (18), Jannathul Haq (20), Murshidul Islam (19), Anarul Islam (25) and Din Islam (22), all Assam natives, were arrested for attacking and injuring Noufal of Malappuram. The accused used to wrap plastic sheets around plywood after it was loaded onto the truck. They attacked him alleging that the amount he paid them was not enough.
