District administration
along with the health department is planning to empower people from different walks of life to live with Covid-19. The authorities will soon conduct a meeting with techies in Infopark to explore the possibilities of using technology to help the people live with corona.
Awareness classes will be given to merchants, stall owners in markets, hospital staff and others on how to live with Covid. “It is a fact that we will have to live with corona for quite some time. But we can’t compromise on safety as well. We are exploring the possibilities of developing techniques which can help us live with corona without contracting the disease or limiting the chances of the spread of the disease,” district collector S Suhas told TOI.
An online interactive session titled ‘Techies Against Covid-19’ will be held on Thursday. Main topics of the discussion will be ‘rebuilding the society and industry post Covid-19’ and ‘tech-oriented ideas and innovations for the fight against Covid-19’. Compiling the ideas generated thus, the authorities will take measures to translate it to reality. The district collector will be the chief guest and National Health Mission district coordinator Dr Mathew Numbeli will be the expert invitee at the interactive session.
Health department in the district will soon convene meetings with various stakeholders like merchants and hospital staff for imparting awareness on how to live with corona. “We can’t keep our markets closed anymore. So, we will have to adopt measures which will help prevent the spread of the disease. We will be designing contents to cater to the needs of each section of the society,” an official with the health department said. “New technologies can help avoid crowding at markets and also collect the contact details of those visiting such places,” the official said.
Traditional art forms like Thiruvathira will be used for creating awareness among the public in this regard. “A team of Kudumbashree workers attached to the Community Health Centre at Malayidam Thuruth at Vazhakkulam block panchayat has come up with a Thiruvathira performance to spread awareness regarding Covid-19. We are trying to use other traditional arts forms also for spreading awareness,” the official said. Similarly, the emergency response team of Vadakkekara grama panchayat is performing ‘Onakkali’ to create awareness. The team comprising 12 members, including women and men, has already performed at five places.
