Kochi: Kerala Police Officers Association (KPOA-Ernakulam Rural) passed a resolution demanding setting up of more police stations in the district. The resolution said that a police station should be established centred around Bhoothathankettu to ensure the safety of Idamalayar and Bhoothathankettu dams and to provide effective services to residents of Vadattupara in the Kuttampuzha panchayat.
It added that, to reduce workload of police stations in Muvattupuzha, Kunnathunadu, Perumbavoor, Kuruppampady and Kothamangalam, a police station should be set up centred around Pezhakkappilly.

Furthermore, to alleviate the duty load of Njarakkal and Munambam police stations, a station should be established centred around Edavanakkad, the resolution said.
It added that, given the increase in drug cases, steps should be taken to establish NDPS police stations and special courts in each district to handle such cases, ensuring timely investigations and the prosecution of offenders.
The conference held at Kothamangalam Kala auditorium was inaugurated by range DIG Arul R B Krishna. District police chief K S Sudarshan was the chief guest and was presided over by district president Anil Kumar T Meppillil.
