KOCHI: Forest officials found the carcass of a 30-year-old tusker inside Pooyamkutty forest in Kuttampuzha range on Monday.
The carcass found 100m away from a stream is four days old, forest officials said.
As per their preliminary analysis, the tusker died of wounds sustained in fight with other elephants. The body will be subjected to postmortem on Tuesday under the leadership of assistant forest veterinary officer, Thrissur, Dr David and his counterpart in Kottayam, Dr Kishore.
The carcass would be cremated after completing all formalities, said Kuttampuzha range officer S Rajan.
