KOCHI: The Kochi corporation plans to hold a student council on Friday. Cleanliness and awareness are on the main agenda of the council. As many as 74 students, representing each division of the corporation, will attend the meeting. "Children will don the role of mayor, deputy mayor, standing committee chairpersons and councillors. They will have to take forward discussions based on the agenda," said mayor Tony Chammany.
The programme is being held in association with Rajagiri Outreach. It is after a gap of 20 years that a student council is being organized in the corporation.
The civic body will organize another function to commemorate the silver jubilee celebrations of the Convention on Rights of the Child (CRC), adopted by the United Nations.
The corporation will felicitate 20 children who have proved their talents in different fields.
