Kerala election 2021 updates: LDF, rival UDF upbeat about forming govt

Kerala went to the polls on Tuesday to elect its 15th legislative assembly, registering a turnout of 74.2% that fell 2.8% short of the last assembly elections in 2016 (77.35%), which election commission sources attributed to the Covid-19 situation. The southern districts – epicentre of the Sabarimala agitation and its emotional aftermath – reported a decline in voting percentage, leaving political parties and pundits guessing over its impact in the election. Polling in Wayanad district to end at 6pm

Voters in Wayanad, except those who are Covid-19 positive, have been urged to cast their votes before 5pm considering the ‘Naxalite threat’ to the district. Even though polling in the district will go on until 6pm, as the final hour is reserved for Covid positive voters, the district election officer and district collector has urged the electorate to 'try to vote early'.

PFI urges people to prevent BJP’s win

Kerala votes today: 957 hopefuls in fray across 140 constituencies

As many as 957 candidates will test their political fortunes across 140 assembly seats as the state goes to polls on Tuesday. All fronts raised allegations of unholy alliances against each other on the eve of polls on Monday while party leaders claimed victory for their respective candidates.

A mock poll will be held before start of actual poll

A mock poll will be conducted 90 minutes before the start of the actual poll, wherein at least 50 votes will be cast in the presence of polling agents at every polling station.
