ALAPPUZHA: Alappuzha crossed 500-mark by reporting 501 new Covid-19 cases.
Of them, 450 patients contracted the disease through local infection. Besides, 32 people arrived from other states and 17 people landed from abroad and two health staff also tested positive for the virus. At the same time, 167 people undergoing treatment for the disease in the district recovered on Wednesday.

At present, 3190 people are being treated in the district for the disease. Till date, 7712 people recovered from the disease.
The highest number of contact cases on Wednesday reported from Alappuzha municipality-105. Other highest number of contact cases following; Punnapra (30), Mannancherry (29), Krishnapuram (21), Arattuppuzha (21), Ambalappuzha (20), Kayamkulam (19), and Purakkad (18)
The district administration has decided to only admit Covid-19 patients with serious symptoms to Alappuzha Medical College Hospital. District collector A Alexander chaired a meeting of MCH and health department officials in this regard. In the wake of increasing cases, the meeting decided to set up Second-Line Treatment Centres in different places in the district.
The meeting also decided patients admitted to the MCH with slight Covid-19 symptoms should be shifted to First-Line Treatment Centres (FLTCS).
