IMD forecasts light rainfall across Kerala till next week
Kochi: While the met department has forecast light rainfall at one or two places in the state till next Monday, it has issued a hot and humid weather warning for 12 districts till Friday India Meteorological Department (IMD) said isolated places in the state are likely to witness light rainfall (2.5mm to 15.5mm) or rainfall accompanied by thunderstorm. Meanwhile, a yellow alert for hot and humid weather will prevail across Kerala, with all districts except Wayanad and Idukki experiencing temperatures three to four degrees above normal. On Wednesday, Palakkad will record a maximum temperature of around 40°C at isolated places, followed by Kollam and Kottayam with 39 and 38°C temperatures, respectively. The light rainfall will occur in the evenings. IMD issued thunderstorm warning accompanied by lightning and gusty winds with speed reaching 40-50kmph at one or two places till Thursday. Since it is accompanied by lightning and thunderstorms, IMD asked people to be vigilant and take precautions. On Tuesday evening, light rainfall was reported at isolated places. On Tuesday, Palakkad reported a maximum temperature of 39.4°C, three degrees above normal. While Palakkad had a relative humidity of 42%, Punalur reported high humidity of 76% on Tuesday.
