Habitual offender detained under Kaapa
Kochi: A habitual offender has been detained under Kerala Anti-Social Activities (Prevention) Act (Kaapa) and lodged in Viyyur Central Jail on Wednesday. Ridhin Baby, 27, of Karukutty, was taken into preventive custody following an order issued by Ernakulam district collector Priyanka G, based on a detailed report by rural district police chief.The latest action follows Baby's involvement in a theft case registered by Angamaly police on Feb 4, in which a Bullet motorcycle was stolen from a house near Karukutty.According to police, Baby was involved in several criminal cases registered across multiple police station limits, including Angamaly, Chengamanad, Koratty and Fort Kochi. The charges against him include attempt to murder, voluntarily causing hurt, criminal intimidation and theft, among others. Police said his continued involvement in serious offences posed a threat to public peace and safety, necessitating stringent preventive action under Kaapa.
