Family dispute behind man’s murder in Idukki: Cops

Idukki: Police in Idukki said the murder of a man at Thookkupalam near Nedumkandam was the result of a family dispute. The victim has been identified as Ratheesh Chandran (39), a native of Anpathekar in Thookkupalam. Nedumkandam police arrested Ratheesh's cousin Anoop Viswanathan in connection with the incident. The incident occurred around 7pm on Sunday. Police said there had been an ongoing family dispute between Ratheesh and Anoop. Anoop stabbed Ratheesh multiple times while the latter was on his way back after work. Two residents of Thookkupalam — Sanal and Sanju — who tried to intervene and stop the attack, were also injured in the incident. On Monday, police brought the accused to the crime scene and conducted evidence collection. After the postmortem examination, the body was handed over to the relatives and later buried in the courtyard of his house.
