Police said the accused suspected his wife of having an illicit affair with Noushad.
The incident took place around 7.45am when Noushad was travelling on bike. Rasheed called him on his phone and asked to meet near the bus depot. "Rasheed rammed his car into Noushad's bike. When Noushad fell the accused stabbed him several times on the neck. Later, he, along with passers-by, shifted Noushad to a hospital to portray it as an accident," said a police officer.
There were two other deep injuries on Noushad's body apart from the stab marks.
Police suspected Rasheed's role as he slipped out of the hospital.
Police later traced him with the help of his mobile tower location. The car used by Rasheed was left at the crime scene. Forensic experts collected evidences from the crime spot. Registration number of the vehicle also helped the police to track the accused.
According to police, Rasheed was close to Noushad but later distanced himself. Noushad had also helped the accused to start a new business. Families of Rasheed and Noushad had gone to Saudi Arabia last month to perform Umra.
Noushad is survived by his wife Aleema and three children.
