KOCHI: Enforcement directorate (ED) probing the Life Mission case is likely to summon the chief minister's additional private secretary CM Raveendran soon. After the arrest of retired bureaucrat M Sivasankar on Tuesday night, ED has recorded the statements of UV Jose, former CEO of Life Mission, and Sivasankar's chartered accountant (CA) P Venugopal.

As part of the gold smuggling probe, ED had questioned Raveendran. Swapna had given a statement to the agency that Raveendran used to contact her occasionally for matters like visa stamping and certificate attestation.

In a set of WhatsApp chats which surfaced after Sivasankar's arrest, a message was attributed to Sivasankar where he says a letter was needed from Red Crescent and consulate. Another message directs to write to the CM to request appropriate instructions to materialize the project. Another message attributed to Sivasankar directs to call 'Raveendran'. There is also a conversation between Swapna, and a number saved as 'ps raveendran'. A set of back and forth messages between Swapna and this number was also among the leaked chats. ED suspects that this number belonged to CM Raveendran, sources said.

Sivasankar will be produced before a special court in Kochi on Monday when his ED custody period ends.tnn
