Kerala: E-hundi to be set up in front of Guruvayur temple

THRISSUR: Guruvayur Devaswom managing committee has decided to set up an e-hundi in front of the temple.

The devaswom chairman Prof V K Vijayan said the e-hundi will be set up in collaboration with SBI, and it was likely to be operational within two weeks.

The administrator K P Vinayan said that the offerings received through the e-hundi would also be added to the overall hundi collections of the temple.

Meanwhile, Uralungal Society has agreed to undertake the demolition of the staff quarters which had caved in on Friday,said the chairman. According to fire brigade officials, the building was nearly 50 years old and was unsafe for housing.

The demolition work is likely to begin on Sunday. The occupants of the caved-in building have been shifted to other quarters.
