Customs seizes gold worth ₹60L
Kochi: Thwarting yet another gold smuggling attempt via Cochin International Airport Ltd (Cial), the Customs Air Intelligence Unit (AIU) at the airport seized 1,202.55g of foreign origin gold in compound form from a Sri Lankan couple on Friday. The seized gold has an estimated value of Rs 60 lakh approximately.According to AIU officials, the passengers arrived from Colombo around 9.15am. They were intercepted by officers based on the profiling done by the AIU.During examination, two capsules each of gold in compound form were found concealed inside their body.
