Cial receives bomb threat
Kochi: Cochin International Airport Ltd (Cial) received a bomb threat via email on Sunday evening.
The email, received from an unidentified ID around 5pm, demanded 10 Bitcoins, a cryptocurrency costing around Rs 22.86 lakh each, and if the demand is not met by midnight, there will be a bomb blast.
Following this, security checks have been strengthened at the airport. However, nothing suspicious has been found so far.

“We have given every detail to the police and they are investigating it. An emergency meeting has been convened and we have strengthened the security. However, it has not affected the airport’s operations,” said Cial’s spokesperson.
Meanwhile, Nedumbasserry police is yet to confirm the ID from which the mail was received. “Bomb detection and disposal squad and sniffer dogs have carried out searches but nothing has been found so far. We are closely monitoring it. We suspect it to be a hoax,” said a police officer. tnn
