School girl sings in front of Kerala minister, gets movie offer

has no boundaries now. Asna, the student of St Joseph Higher Secondary School, Alappuzha, is a now celebrity in the school. She is all set to become a playback singer after she sang a song in front of finance minister T M Thomas Isaac at a function held in the school.

movie ‘Mittayi Theruvu’ scripted and directed by Ratheesh Raghunandan. The film is being produced by Haseeb Haneef, Aji Medayil and Noushad Alathur.

On Tuesday, she received her first remuneration from the producers of the film at a function held in the school in the presence of Thomas Isaac. The finance minister handed over the remuneration at the function. She will rent her voice for songs in the movie with Rakesh(Unni) Nooranadu, who became very famous after his rendition of ‘Unnai Kaanadhu Naan’ went viral on social media. Hanan, who will do an attractive role in the film ‘Mittayi Theruvu’, has also attended the function.'

According to Asna, she sang a song Nattumaviloru Myna from film ‘916’ at an evening programme to honor students, who bagged full A plus in the SSLC examination, held in her school in June last week.

"It was my big dream to sing in a movie. It is going to become reality. Now I don’t know how to express my gratitude to Thomas Isaac Sir, who fulfilled my dreams,’’ she said.

The minister, who listened to Asna’s song during the merit evening function held last week in June, enquired about the girl. Then her teachers told him that she was a winner in music competitions of state youth festivals and participant in TV reality shows. The minister, who impressed her voice, decided to give her a chance in singing in the film. Following it, the minister contacted his friends in the movie field and arranged a chance for Asna to sing in the film.

She is the only daughter of Y Salahuddin, a section officer at Alappuzha PSC office and Tinu, a teacher with government high school, Paravoor. Asna has been learning music from the standard one. She bagged first prize in music competitions held in state CBSE youth festival. She practices Hindustani music under Vijay Sursen and

Carnatic music

under Kommadi native Hareesh Pulathara.
