Kochi: Kerala high court chief justice and Nuals chancellor S Soumen Sen said artificial intelligence signals a "civilisational shift" and called for principled legal oversight to safeguard constitutional values in a rapidly transforming world.
While inaugurating a training programme for govt pleaders at National University of Advanced Legal Studies (Nuals) on Friday, he described the workshop as a timely response to global disruptions driven by AI and Fourth Industrial Revolution.

He emphasised that law officers stand at the intersection of executive authority and constitutional accountability, bearing responsibility of ensuring that state power is exercised fairly and within constitutional limits.
While highlighting AI's potential to enhance legal research, litigation strategy and drafting efficiency, he cautioned that deepfakes, synthetic evidence and fabricated records pose serious risks to judicial integrity.
The programme was organised by MK Damodaran International Centre for Excellence in Law. Nuals vice-chancellor G B Reddy presided over the function.
