Addressing a news conference here on Saturday, agriculture minister

V S Sunilkumar

said the theme of rebuilding Kerala will be debated from three dimensions — livelihood perspective, revival of agriculture sector in post-flood situation and Kerala flood’s impact on agriculture.

Kadambot H M Siddique, professor from the University of Western Australia’s Institute of Agriculture, will deliver the keynote address on rebuilding Kerala.

The minister said this edition of ‘Vaiga’ will be combined with the Indian council for agriculture research (ICAR)’s Krishi Unnati Mela and has been rechristened as ‘Vaiga’-Krishi Unnati Mela.

“Spices, fruits and vegetables as well as

floriculture

will be the focus of the mela, which is being organized to promote processing and value addition of agriculture produces,” said agriculture director P K Jayasree . Experts from countries like Indonesia and Australia as well as from northeastern states, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh are scheduled to attend to workshops.

The four-day event will also have sessions on value addition prospects in animal husbandry and fisheries sectors.
