KOCHI: Aluva police on Tuesday arrested a 21 – year – old Thrissur native in connection with the murder of a transgender in Aluva last week. The arrested was identified as Abilash of Annamanada. 35 – year – old

Murukesan

(Gowri) was found killed in the bushes near Railway goods shed on August 15. According to Aluva CI Vishal Johnson, Abilash, working in Mumbai, came down in Aluva railway station on August 15 and met his two friends.

They consumed alcohol together and later Abilash and one of his friends went to a toddy shop in the town. They consumed toddy and came to the accident spot together for sleeping. Later, his friend left the place and Abilash slept there. But some of the passerby informed police about Abilash sleeping in an isolated area. Following this, police reached the spot and collected address of the accused and asked him to leave the place.

But Abilash returned behind the shed after some time since his

train to Chalakkudy

was at 4 pm on that day and transgender Murukesh also reached there. “Murukesh reached the place wearing mundu and bath towel.

As per the claim of the accused, the transgender demanded to have sex with him. But Abilash rejected his demand resulted in a fight between them. In the middle of the clash, Murukesh fell on the ground and Abilash, in

intoxicated state

, strangled Murukesh with the towel. Before leaving the place, the accused dragged the body to the bushes and covered it with asbestos sheets,” Vishal said.

It was a passerby who alerted the police about the dead body. Since police had the address of Abilash and

senior officials

zeroed on him. After reaching house, Abilash stood away from house from next day onwards. Police on Tuesday caught him from another house and confessed to the crime.
