A senior civil police officer attached to the narcotics cell was arrested for allegedly molesting a 16-year-old girl. The accused, Nelson Thomas, 40, allegedly molested the minor girl after forcing her to drink alcohol.
He was taken into custody from Bengaluru. Last week, police registered a case under the Protection of Children against Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act against the officer and placed him under suspension. A 24-year old woman Aathira, who was arrested in connection with the incident, was remanded to judicial custody by the court on January 12.
A team led by Alappuzha DySP PV Baby is probing the case. “We have made three arrests so far in connection with the molestation of a minor girl, he said.
'The DySP P V Baby said that they have registered a case under the provisions of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO Act) and began a probe based on the statements of the girl.
