IDUKKI: Three people were killed when a coconut-laden truck overturned at Valanjanganam near Kuttikkanam on the

The incident occurred around 2am on Monday. The deceased have been identified as driver Bhoomirajan, (28), a resident of Thekkaalingapuram in Madurai in Tamil Nadu, his helper Dieshan, (30), and a

coconut

vendor Subramanyan, (48), of Aandippetti.

Police said the truck was totally destroyed and the coconuts were spread over a wide area on the ghat road. The accident occurred when the driver lost control of the vehicle while negotiating a

hairpin

curve. Rain and mist were possible reasons for the accident. The truck was heading for Kottayam from TN.

Peermade SI R Rajesh and team rushed to the spot and shifted the injured to a private hospital at Mundakkayam but all three were declared brought dead.

The bodies have been shifted to Kottayam Medical College for autopsy.
