288 recover, 159 get virus in Kerala's Alappuzha

ALAPPUZHA: The district on Wednesday reported 159 Covid-19 positive cases. At the same time, 288 people who were undergoing treatment for the disease here, recovered. At present, there are 1,746 Covid-19 positive cases in the district.
Of the total cases reported on Wednesday, 130 had contracted the virus through contact. Besides, 15 had arrived from other states and 11 from abroad while two health staff and a Kayamkulam native (source of infection remains unknown) were among the fresh cases.
Alappuzha had 27 cases while the others were reported from: Mavelikkara(9), Kayamkulam(8), Cherthala South (7) and Punnapra South(7), Arattupuzha (6), Pattanakkad (6), Thaikkattussery (6), Thanneermukkom (5), Mannancherry (4), Mararikulam South (4), Pallippuram (4), Aryad (3), Karuvatta (3), two cases each from Cherthala, Pallippad, Thrikkunnappuzha, Karthikappally, Mannar, Ezhupunna and Ambalappuzha.

Meanwhile, district collector A Alexander permitted the sale of fish in PB Junction and Pollethai coastal areas. The collector reportedly decided based on a report from the fisheries director. The fishermen are allowed to venture into the sea between 6 am and 2 pm. Those at PB junction can start from September 3, while those in Pollethai can begin from the next day. The sale of fish is allowed between 6 am to 2 pm.
