20-yr-old collapses while presenting seminar in Palakkad, dies

Palakkad: In a suspected dehydration death, a 20-year-old student died after collapsing while presenting a seminar at an engineering college in Palakkad on Tuesday. The deceased, Shafeeqa, is the daughter of Shamsudheen of Paravanna in Tirur. She was a biotechnology student at Markaz Arts and Science College in Valanchery, Palakkad, and had arrived at the engineering college as part of her internship programme. According to sources, she collapsed while presenting a paper in front of fellow students. She was immediately rushed to a nearby private hospital but could not be saved. The exact cause of death is yet to be confirmed. Dehydration is suspected to have led to the collapse. Hospital authorities said the cause of death will be confirmed only after the postmortem examination.
