20-year-old man arrested for car theft

Kochi: Muvattupuzha police arrested a 20-year-old for allegedly stealing a car and illegally changing its number. The accused was caught in Thiruvananthapuram while he was on a ride with a friend in the stolen car. The arrested person is identified as Al Sabith from Pineapple City in Paipra. He was arrested by Muvattupuzha Police.The case pertains to the theft that allegedly occurred on July 4 morning. He stole a Swift car from the parking area of a house in Karuttukavu area. He then took the vehicle to Thiruvananthapuram on the same day, modified it and used a fake number plate. The accused was travelling with a woman friend, whom he met through Instagram, when he was arrested. The police are investigating whether he was involved in similar crimes.Man held for vandalism: A 44-year-old man was arrested for vandalising a house, setting a motorcycle on fire and threatening the family members for filing a police complaint against him. The arrested person was identified as Moncy Varghese from Velloorkunnam. He was apprehended by Muvattupuzha Police.Police said that there was some personal enmity between the accused and the family and Varghese earlier damaged a two-wheeler parked at their house by throwing it into a canal. Following this, the family filed a police complaint against him.
