Women honoured for doing remarkable work in various fields
Kanpur: On the occasion of ‘Nari Shakti Vandan Sammelan’ the district administration on Monday honoured women who have done remarkable work in various fields.
The live telecast of the ‘Nari Shakti Vandan Sammelan’ (Women’s Empowerment Conference), presided over by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi, was screened on Monday at the New Auditorium located at Sarsaiya Ghat.
A large number of women from the district participated in the event, listened to the Prime Minister’s address, and reiterated the pledge for women’s empowerment. During the programme, MLA Neelima Katiyar, Saroj Kureel, and district magistrate Jitendra Pratap Singh were present.
During the programme, women also registered their support for the Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam by giving a missed call on the toll-free number 9667173333.
MLA Neelima Katiyar stated that India’s democracy was becoming even stronger through the active participation of women. She added that the Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam had paved the way for ensuring approximately 33 percent representation for women in Parliament and State Legislative Assemblies, thereby making women’s role in the decision-making process even more effective.
MLA Saroj Kuril stated that the holistic development of society was not possible without increased participation from women. “Today, women are carving out a new identity in every field through education, self-reliance, and leadership”, he said.
District magistrate Jitendra Pratap Singh stated that continuous work was being undertaken in the district for the empowerment of women through various departments.
On this occasion, Anganwadi workers Vandana Sarita, Malti Devi, Garima Yadav, Renu Kumari, and Sangeeta Srivastava were honoured with certificates of appreciation for their outstanding work.
