KANPUR: In order to increase the percentage of voting this time, the district election machinery has decided to organise Voter Awareness Campaign Week commencing from February 14.
The Voter Awareness Week would be observed in the district on the instructions of
Election Commission.
The industrial city will observe polling on February 23. The election commission wants higher percentage of people voting this time.
It is in this regard that the awareness week would be observed till Feb 20.
Dr Akhilesh Mishra, ADM Civil Supplies and Voter Awareness Observer who would be spearheading the campaign informed that on February 15, a large rally meant to aware people to cast vote would be taken out from Phoolbagh area. District Magistrate, Hari Om would flag off the rally.
Akhilesh Mishra said that on the same day, students of schools and degree colleges, technical institutions would also be taking out a rally to aware people about importance of casting votes. Students will holds banners, placards in their hands during the rally.
The senior administrative official also informed that the students of schools and colleges would be asked to motivate their parents to vote on February 23 instead of spending the day as an off-day (vacation).
Also, the students studying in degree colleges and higher technical institutions would be made to take oath to use their right to franchise, he further said.
