Kanpur: YV Rathod’s unbeaten century (127no) placed Vidarbha in a comfortable position against UP as they scored 270 for 4 on the first day of their four-day quarter final being played at Alembic 2 cricket ground.
Vidarbha, deciding to bat first, suffered a setback in the beginning when opener Mandar Mahale was held by Saean Singh of Aaquib Khan for 4 .Rathod joined another opener A.
Mokhade in the middle and they repaired the loss adding 94 runs for second wicket. Ankit Chaudhary broke their union by trapping Mokhade in front of the wicket. Mokhade scored 53 runs in 109 balls scoring 6 boundaries.
UP bowlers got two early successes as MR Kale was bowled by Kunal Yadav for 6 and
Yash Kadam was bowled by Aquib Khan for 19 and Vidarbha reduced to 155 for 4. Wicket keeper Capt SK Wath joined Rathod in the middle and two displayed fine and disciplined cricket. They, so far in their unbeaten union have scored 115 runs.
Rathod completed his century and while he was batting on 127 runs, the umpires called the day. He faced 260 balls and plundered 15 boundaries and a six. Wath in his unbeaten innings scored 51 runs in 113 balls hitting 6 boundaries. For UP, Aquib Khan captured 2 wickets for 59 runs and Kunal Yadav and Ankit Chaudhary bagged one wicket each.
