Kanpur: UP are on the verge of a win against Goa as they need just 41 runs to register a victory in Col CK Nayudu Trophy championship match being played at Alur Cricket Stadium, Bengaluru on Thursday.
UP, after scoring 300 runs in their first innings against Goa’s 179, wrapped the second innings of Goa on 192 runs. They got a target of 72 runs to win the match and at the close of the third day’s game, they were 31 for no loss.

Sameer Rizvi and Aanjaneya Suryavanshi, the two successful batsmen of the first innings, were on the crease with 18 and 13 runs, respectively.
The wicket once again behaved differently as as many as 13 wickets fell on the third day. UP began the third day’s proceedings from 7 for 260 and they could add just 40 runs in their overnight total and lost the remaining three wickets. Captain Sameer Rizvi who was batting on 83 failed to complete his century. He could add just 13 runs before offering a catch to Soham Sameer off Ruthvik Naik. He faced 236 balls and sent the ball 11 times to the fence. Kritagya Singh contributed 27 before falling prey to Deepraj Gaonkar.
Ruthvik Naik was the most successful bowler claiming six wickets for 56 runs. Parab, Deepraj and Tunish all bagged one wicket each.
Goa trailing 121 runs behind failed to rise to the occasion. In the beginning of the innings, they lost two wickets for 12 runs. Thereafter they lost wickets at regular intervals. Opener Vaibhav Govekar 48, Deepraj Gaonkar 34 and Ruthvik Naikar 41 could face UP bowlers with some confidence.
Best 51 runs partnership came from the bats of VG Kahlon and Vaibhav Govenkar for the fifth wicket. Vaibhav contributed 38 runs in this stand.
For UP Kritagya KK Singh bagged 4 wickets for 73 runs. Kunal Yadav and Prince Yadav both scalped 2 wickets each. Kunal Tygi and Karan Chaudhary both bagged one wicket each.
