Kanpur: A four-year-old girl, Khushi, who suffered severe injuries when a speeding vehicle hit her and crashed into a school gate in the Tatya Tope Nagar area on Monday afternoon, succumbed to her injuries during treatment at Lala Lajpat Rai Hospital on Wednesday.
The post-mortem report indicated that Khushi's death was caused by brain trauma. DCP (South) Ankita Sharma confirmed that Khushi's case was already included in the initial FIR filed by Aryan's father. The authorities will incorporate Khushi's father's statement into the ongoing investigation. "The individuals responsible for the fatal car incident involving children have been arrested on charges of culpable homicide," stated the DCP.
Police are actively pursuing the remaining teenager and other accused who were in the vehicle during the incident. The tragic incident occurred when the vehicle, travelling from Gujaini bypass towards Tatya Tope Nagar, veered off course, struck Aryan (5) and Khushi, and destroyed the school gate and wall. Aryan lost his life at the scene. Local residents expressed their anger and called for strict action against the perpetrators.
The children were playing near Thakur Vishambhar Nath Inter College's gate when the Brezza vehicle's driver lost control, hit them, and crashed into the school gate. The children were immediately taken to Kanshiram Hospital where doctors declared Aryan dead. The treatment of Khushi was underway at Lala Lajpat Rai Hospital, where she succumbed on Wednesday.
Investigations revealed that four individuals, including a driver who was speeding, were travelling in the car at the time of the incident.
