Tigress Trisha which gave birth to 14 cubs no more

Kanpur: Tigress Trisha, which gave birth to 14 cubs in the zoological park, died on Monday night. The big cat was 19.5 years old and lived two and half years longer than the average age. The tigress, which had beene ill for a long time, was being treated in the hospital located at the zoological park. Now there are 10 tigers and tigresses left in the zoo — four females and six males.Known for increasing tiger population across the country, Tigress Trisha was brought from the forest of Farrukhabad along with tiger Abhay in 2010. They had 10 cubs. When tiger Abhay died, Trisha was kept with the tiger Prashant, brought from Pilibhit forest, and gave birth to four cubs till 2017.In December 2022, the health of the tigress started deteriorating and doctors started her treatment. According to zoo doctors, “It had mouth cancer. The upper part of Trisha’s jaw had gradually decayed. The big cat didn’t consume anything since Sunday morning and succumbed on Monday.”According to a ranger posted at the zoo, Naved Ikram: “Trisha lived a life longer than her average age. The last rites were performed as per the protocols on Tuesday.” According to zoo doctors, the average age of a tiger is 16 to 17 years. Trisha lived about two and a half years more than the usual age of tigers.
