Three youths slip in Ganga, go missing

Kanpur: Three

youths

are feared to have drowned while bathing in the Ganga at Saraiya Ghat in Shivrajpur area of district on Tuesday.

Police identified the deceased as Divyamani Tiwari (27) and Sachin Verma (26), both residents of Keshavpuram and Rinku (26) of Panki.

Police said one youth, who didn’t know how to swim, slipped into deep water, started drowning and called for help. Two others rushed to rescue him and are also feared drowned. Some people standing on the banks raised alarm following which local divers rushed to rescue youths but they could not find them. Their bodies were untraceable till Wednesday.

SHO Shivrajpur Mahesh Yadav, said that the youths had entered the deep side of the river. “The bodies of the three are yet to be recovered,” SHO added.
